Mental Health Support in Clinical Trials
Help us make research more human – by sharing your story.
Led by: PiCC United
Supported by: H. Lundbeck A/S
What is the project about?
Supporting mental health and wellbeing during clinical trials.
Many people face emotional and mental health challenges when taking part in clinical trials, yet these important aspects are often overlooked by those who design and run them. This project, supported by Lundbeck, is an opportunity to address this. Together, we aim to better understand the emotional challenges associated with clinical trial participation and use those insights to make the experience more supportive, respectful, and humane for future participants.
Your role and what to expect?
We want to hear from people like you who have taken part in clinical trials. By sharing your experiences, you will help us co-develop practical recommendations that can make trials easier, safer, and more human. Everything you share will be treated with confidentiality and respect. Your voice matters. Let’s make clinical trials more human.
Who can take part?
We are looking for individuals who meet the following criteria to contribute to this important project. If you’ve been part of a clinical trial, your story matters. By telling us about your experience, you’ll help us improve how future trials support people’s wellbeing.

What to Expect and How We Work
Your wellbeing matters to us. That’s why we begin each session by agreeing on a few simple ground rules together. These include keeping the conversation confidential, listening to one another with respect, and always remembering that it’s perfectly okay to pause, say “no thanks,” or step away at any time.
We want you to feel safe, respected, and fully in control throughout the process. These ground rules are there to help create a calm and supportive space where everyone feels comfortable contributing.
Here’s what will happen:
- Before the session:
You’ll receive a short document to read through in your own time (about 30–45 minutes) - During the session:
We’ll meet online for 1.5–2 hours to talk about your experiences and ideas in a small, respectful group - Afterwards (optional):
If you’d like, you can share feedback on a short draft document (about 30–60 minutes)
- Before the session:
You are in control at all times – you can pause or withdraw whenever you like.
Your Time Matters – and Is Valued
We know your time and experience are valuable. That’s why we offer €115 EUR per hour, based on international Fair Market Value (FMV) standards. This is our way of saying thank you for your time and your story.
You will be compensated for:
✔ Reading and preparing before the session
✔ Participating in the online group session
✔ (Optional) Providing feedback afterwards
In total, you can expect to spend between 2 and 3.5 hours – and never more than that..
