Our Mission

PiCC United (Patient Involvement and Collaboration Community United) is an international, patient-led non-profit organisation working to make meaningful patient involvement and engagement easier, more accessible, and more diverse.

We provide practical tools, education, governance frameworks, and collaborative opportunities that enable patients, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and organisations to work together as equal partners.

 

Our mission is to:

    • Make patient involvement and engagement easier.
    • Increase diversity of voices and perspectives.
    • Provide support and education for confident participation.
    • Develop better and more ethical ways to involve patients.

Public Benefit Purpose

Stichting PiCC United operates exclusively for public benefit.

 

Any income generated through grants, sponsorships, service agreements, donations, or educational activities is reinvested in furthering our mission and supporting the organisation’s long-term sustainability.

 

No profits are distributed to board members or founders.

Governance Structure

PiCC United is governed by an independent Board of Directors (Bestuur) in accordance with Dutch law and our Articles of Association.

The Board holds ultimate responsibility for:

    • Strategy and oversight
    • Financial stewardship
    • Risk management
    • Compliance and ethics
    • Appointment and supervision of delegated functions

Current Board Members

According to the Dutch Chamber of Commerce extract, the following individuals are currently registered as jointly authorised board members. Additional board members may be appointed in accordance with the Articles of Association.

Board Remuneration Policy

Board members serve on a voluntary basis and do not receive remuneration for their governance role.

Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with PiCC United’s financial policies.

Where board members provide professional services outside their governance responsibilities, these arrangements are managed transparently and subject to conflict-of-interest procedures.

Conflict of Interest

PiCC United maintains a Conflict of Interest Policy to ensure that decisions are made independently and in the best interests of the organisation.

 

Board members and contributors are required to disclose any relevant interests and recuse themselves from decisions where a conflict exists.

Funding Principles

PiCC United is funded through a combination of:

    • Grants
    • Sponsorships
    • Donations
    • Service agreements
    • Educational activities

We are committed to maintaining our independence.

Funding does not provide sponsors, donors, or partners with influence over our governance, editorial content, or strategic priorities.

Financial Oversight

PiCC United applies financial controls designed to ensure transparency and accountability, including:

    • Board oversight of budgets and expenditures
    • Dual approval for significant payments where practical
    • Proper bookkeeping and accounting records
    • Annual financial reporting
    • Use of independent professional support where appropriate

Current Banking Status

Stichting PiCC United has been legally incorporated and registered in the Netherlands.

Our dedicated EUR bank account is currently being established.
